Walla Walla High School Names Anna Forge New Girls Basketball Head Coach Walla Walla High School has named Anna Forge as the new head coach of the Blue Devils girls basketball program. Forge, a 2006 graduate of Walla Walla High School, returns home with extensive coaching experience at the high school, community college, and NCAA Division III levels. A former student-athlete at Whitman College, Forge played women’s basketball for the Blues and graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in biology. Most recently, Forge served as a volunteer assistant coach for the women’s basketball program at Whitman College from 2022 to 2024, assisting with player development, game management, and practice instruction. During her time on staff, the Blues captured back-to-back Northwest Conference regular season and tournament championships while advancing to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Forge also coached at Walla Walla Community College during the 2021-2022 season, helping lead the Warriors to a 20-6 record and a Northwest Athletic Conference semifinal appearance. Her high school coaching experience includes eight seasons at Sammamish High School, where she served as a junior varsity head coach, varsity assistant coach, and eventually varsity head coach. Under her leadership, the program achieved its first winning seasons in more than two decades, earned two playoff appearances, and secured a signature victory over eventual 3A state champion Lake Washington. Forge was named KingCo Coach of the Year in 2020. Forge describes herself as a passionate basketball coach focused on defensive excellence, relationship-building, and creating a positive environment where student-athletes can develop confidence, resilience, and life skills beyond the court. “We are excited to have Anna Forge return to the Blue Devil girls basketball program as our new head coach,” said Chris Ferenz. “Throughout the interview process, players and parents noted Coach Forge’s energy, passion, and commitment to productive relationships with players while developing the total student-athlete.” “Anna brings experience as a high school head coach where she helped a young program become competitive in the always tough KingCo Conference,” Ferenz said. “We are excited to have her back as part of Blue Devil Nation.”
