On Saturday, September 26, 2026, the Wa-Hi Girls Swim & Dive Team hosted the Walla Walla Invitational at Harvey Pool on the Whitman College campus. The Blue Devils finished third out of seven schools, winning two of three relays and four of the eight individual events. Team Standings: Hanford — 679 Richland — 587 Walla Walla — 422 Kamiakin — 209.5 Kennewick — 173.5 Southridge — 47 Hermiston — 43 The Blue Devils swam really well, with 12 of the 15 athletes recording personal-best times. Most athletes also competed in events they had not previously swum. The top 16 finishers in each event scored points. Walla Walla scored 176 of its 422 points in relays, where points are doubled. In the 200 Medley Relay, the “A” squad of Violette Schindler, Claire Chen, and Madelyn Smith won with a time of 1:57.88, while the “B” squad of Gianna Goff, Olivia Thayne, Millie Zanes, and Ella Dalan finished eighth with a time of 2:26.72. In the 200 Freestyle Relay, the “A” squad of Claire Chen, Cora Asmus, Olivia Thayne, and Madelyn Smith won with a time of 1:51.81. The “B” squad of Josefine Fitts, Reagan Hendley, Brooke-Lynn Bishop, and Lucy Anderton finished sixth in 2:04.32. In the 400 Freestyle Relay, the “A” squad of Violette Schindler, Lucy Anderton, Cora Asmus, and Cienna Lyon finished second with a time of 4:05.68. The “B” squad of Millie Zanes, Josefine Fitts, Reagan Hendley, and Brooke-Lynn Bishop finished tenth in 4:47.87. Walla Walla scored 270 points in individual events. Sophomore Violette Schindler won both the 100 Butterfly (59.74) and the 100 Backstroke (1:01.61). Junior Madelyn Smith won both the 50 Freestyle (26.53) and the 100 Freestyle (58.32). Freshman Cora Asmus finished second in the 200 IM (2:33.34) and fourth in the 100 Breaststroke (1:24.30). Junior Lucy Anderton finished third in the 50 Freestyle (28.27) and tenth in the 500 Freestyle (6:39.62). Junior Olivia Thayne finished fourth in the 50 Freestyle (28.41) and seventh in the 500 Freestyle (6:22.60). Freshman Claire Chen finished fifth in both the 100 Butterfly (1:12.18) and the 100 Backstroke (1:13.88). Junior Cienna Lyon finished ninth in the 500 Freestyle (6:36.68) and fifteenth in the 100 Breaststroke (1:33.32). Freshman Millie Zanes finished tenth in the 50 Freestyle (29.59) and eighth in the 500 Freestyle (6:27.62). Sophomore Josefine Fitts finished tenth in the 200 IM (2:52.37) and thirteenth in the 100 Backstroke (1:22.56). Senior Gianna Goff finished eleventh in the 200 IM (2:56.03) and fourteenth in the 100 Breaststroke (1:31.36). Freshman Ella Dalan finished sixteenth in the 100 Butterfly (1:52.43). The Blue Devils’ next meet will be a double dual against Hanford and Richland on Tuesday, September 29, at Prout Pool in Richland.
